One day you begin to learn, the other one you don't have time, and you don't revise what you've learnt. Have you ever experienced it? I have; therefore, I would like to present you 5 ideas how to plan your learning time better:
1) WRITE A DAILY PLAN
Before you start, find a calendar, an empty notebook or something similar. Prepare a plan for at least one week. Don't be too ambitious. The day you write it you're really motivated, but the case is that you can really realise what you wrote. It's better to learn 5 words a day than nothing. Remember about including revisions in your plan. (I will write later more about revising).
2) FIND AT LEAST 15 MINUTES A DAY
If you estimate that you always have time e.g. at 6:00 pm, and you can sacrifice these 15 minutes daily then, you are really close to success. Without such a plan one is more likely to postpone learning. The only thing is to be consistent.
3) SET THE ALARM FOR THE HOUR YOU CHOSE
Of course, today you are sure that you will remember, but just in case it's good to set the alarm. ;)
4) FIND PEOPLE LEARNING THE SAME LANGUAGE AS YOU
The simple rule is: learning languages is about communicating with other people. Your motivation will rise, if you find somebody else learning or a native speaker of this language, and it's certainly easier to find time for talking with a friend than for writing another list of words, isn't it?
5) TURN YOUR DAILY ROUTINES INTO LEARNING LANGUAGES
You happen to watch a soap opera every evening? Great! Then watch it in language you learn. The same is with every other programme. Try to use every chance of doing something in a foreign language. When you read a book, try to read the original version. Stick a post-it note on your desk where you work. There are hundreds of ways to be in contact with language.
GOOD LUCK! :)
